Workshop Report from Training Workshop and Health Camp for all Sanitation Workers, Wai Municipal Council

WMC with support from C-WAS, CEPT University organized a training workshop for all the sanitation workers in 2019. The participants were the sanitations workers from WMC, workers on contract and workers employed by private operators for the purpose of scheduled emptying, faecal sludge treatment and maintenance of CT/PTs (community toilets / public toilets). The objective of the workshop was to sensitize sanitation workers towards occupational hazards and demonstrate the importance of PPE gears.

Reaching the Unserved: Access to Individual Household Toilets in Vulnerable Urban Areas

Prepared by C-WAS, CEPT University and NFSSM Alliance, this document is a compendium of cases which show how the perceived barriers to constructing individual household toilets (such as lack of space, finance and sewerage access) were successfully addressed in Wai. In addition, the cases also highlight the important role played by women who took the decision to have a toilet and led its construction, proving how living conditions of urban vulnerable communities can be transformed with women leadership.
